Our Value
Always Finding a Better Way
Our solutions are engineered to maximize fuel efficiency and durability while reducing overall weight and noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH). We understand that a component is only as good as the system in which it operates; that’s why we take an integrated, systems-focused approach in the development of each of our products. And as more and more automakers shift their focus towards vehicle electrification, we’ll leverage our in-house expertise and complete portfolio of electrodynamic solutions to support them throughout every phase of development.
Fuel Efficiency
As fuel economy requirements continue to tighten across the globe, Dana works collaboratively with customers to meet and exceed these standards, while maintaining performance, reducing emissions, and improving system design. Together, we develop customized drivetrain systems that reduce product complexity, leverage innovative lightweight materials and welding processes, and ultimately provide the optimal level of fuel economy based on a given duty cycle.
Durability
Our innovations aren’t just concepts; they’re proven to work and built to last. Achieving the durability our customers demand requires an ongoing commitment to rigorous testing. Every Dana breakthrough is challenged, measured, and affirmed—and then tested again. In fact, we’re one of the only Tier 1 automotive suppliers known by name in the consumer market, thanks to the reputation and proven durability of our Dana 44™ and Dana 60™ axles.
System Integration
Through decades-long relationships with our customers, Dana is uniquely positioned to understand the data and variables that impact each vehicle’s dynamics and how they interact with the complete powertrain. We collaborate closely with customers in the early stages of design to find new ways of integrating components and reducing system complexity. Our deep systems competence allows us to excel at integrating both electrical and mechanical components, as well as entire systems, for enhanced performance, space optimization, efficiency, and cost savings.
NVH
Lowering noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) levels is key to achieving a smoother, quieter ride and drive. And as quieter electric motors replace combustion engines, managing ambient noise levels within passenger vehicles becomes not only more important—but an increasingly challenging engineering feat. Even the smallest variations during manufacturing can affect NVH levels. But through extensive research, design, and rigorous product testing, Dana’s products achieve significantly lower NVH levels than competitor products.
Vehicle Electrification
Supported by our legacy of innovation in conventional drivetrains, Dana is working with leading light vehicle OEMs and strategic partners to develop integrated systems and modular solutions for electrified vehicle applications. Whether a customer is looking for an expert to help guide electric vehicle architecture or a reliable components supplier, Dana has the flexibility to meet any need. Today, we are the only supplier with the capability to develop complete electrified powertrains and fully integrated e-Drives, complete with thermal management systems, across all vehicle markets.
